The journal Sborník archivních prací is one of the leading scientific archival journals in the Czech Republic founded in 1951 for extensive studies, often of a monographic nature. It specialises in the field of archival science, archival studies, archiving history, theory, and methodology, history of administration, various so-called auxiliary historical sciences (esp. diplomatics, palaeography, chronology, heraldry, sphragistics and others), and library sciences. Collections of primary and secondary historical sources on significant events and personalities of Czech history are also published on its pages as well as extensive and comprehensive reviews of the fundamental European works of the field.
The journal does not collect publication or any other fees from authors and does not pay any royalties or other remuneration to authors for published articles.
The journal has been a peer-reviewed journal since 1951 and is listed in the Register of Peer-reviewed Journals with No Impact Factor Published in the Czech Republic, as maintained by the Research, Development and Innovation Council of Czech Republic.
Until 2023, the publisher of the journal was the Department of Archival Administration and Records Management of the Ministry of the Interior. From 1 January 2024, the new co-publishers of the journal are the National Archives Czech Republic and the Faculty of Arts of Charles University in Prague.
The profile of the journal, internal structure and periodicity remain unchanged.

Language

Structure
This journal covers two types of submissions:
Studies and Papers: Peer-reviewed studies and papers that are original, self-written, unpublished, topical and are of all the standard features required of a scientific paper. Submissions undergo a peer review and an evaluation by the journal’s Editorial Board. After a submission has been considered by reviewers and members of the journal’s Editorial Board, a decision is taken on whether it should be accepted, rejected, or revised.
This journal is focused on longer studies (20 standard pages or more).
Reviews and Reports: Shorter or longer texts that are not peer-reviewed, but overviewed by the Editorial Office, who decides if they are fitting for publication or not. These texts are more for information purposes and cover reports of i.e. conferences, seminars, workshops, reviews of outstanding foreign books and papers, methodological insights and surveys about important figures of the field.
Periodicity
The journal is issued twice a year.
