Journal Structure

Two basic types of submissions are published:

  • Peer-reviewed submissions
  • Non-peer-reviewed submissions

Peer-reviewed submissions – These are papers that are inherently scientific studies. As such, they are topical, original, self-written, as yet unpublished, and possess all the standard features required of a scientific paper. Submissions undergo a double-blind peer review and an evaluation by the journal’s Editorial Board. After a submission has been considered by reviewers and members of the journal’s Editorial Board, a decision is taken on whether it should be accepted, rejected, or revised.

Non-peer-reviewed submissions – These papers are not peer-reviewed, but the Editorial Department decides to accept them for publication. They are briefer submissions across a broad spectrum of genres, including:

  • Information on related events (conferences, seminars, workshops, etc.)
  • Methodological insights
  • Reviews and annotations of publications released by the National Archives or featuring a significant contribution by the National Archives staff.
